(Original title: China Telecom Hong Kong Listed Company: Li Zhengmao as President and Chief Operating Officer)

Beijing News (Reporter promised) On March 23, China Telecom’s Hong Kong-listed company announced on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange that Li Zhengmao was appointed as the company’s president and chief operating officer, effective March 23, 2020. With immediate effect, Ke Ruiwen, the company’s chairman and chief executive officer, will no longer serve as the company’s president and chief operating officer. As early as January this year, Li Zhengmao no longer served as the deputy general manager of China Mobile, and was transferred to the general manager and deputy secretary of the party group of China Telecom Group Co., Ltd.

The announcement shows that Li Zhengmao, 57, graduated from Sichuan University majoring in radio electronics, and holds a master’s degree in radio technology from Chengdu Institute of Telecommunications Engineering and a doctorate in communication and Electronic systems from the Department of Radio Engineering of Southeast University. Li Zhengmao served as Executive Director and Vice President of China Unicom Co., Ltd., Director and Deputy General Manager of China United Communications Co., Ltd., Deputy General Manager of China Mobile Co., Ltd., Vice President and General Counsel of China Mobile Communications Group Co., Ltd., and China Mobile Communications Co., Ltd. Director and deputy general manager and other positions, “has rich experience in management and telecommunications industry”.

Since entering 2020, the executives of the three major operators have been adjusted frequently. In addition to Li Zhengmao, Shao Guanglu, deputy general manager of China Unicom, was also transferred to China Telecom as a full-time deputy secretary, while Gao Tongqing, deputy general manager of China Telecom, was transferred to China Mobile as deputy general manager. Industry insiders said that in 2020, when 5G is widely popularized, the “cross-serving” of the three major operators’ executives will be conducive to the “competition and cooperation” of operators in the 5G era, and better promote 5G construction and development. However, some analysts worry that this will reduce the level of competition between the three major operators.
