Huawei promotes the full deployment of the Hongmeng system in all terminal products except mobile phones, tablets, and computers next year

DoNews December 9 (Reporter Zhao Jinjie) According to media reports, Wang Chenglu, President of Huawei’s Consumer Business Software Department, said in a theme sharing at Huawei’s global flagship store, Shenzhen Vientiane World Store last Sunday, that Huawei’s terminal products, in addition to mobile phones, tablets, In addition to the computer, the Hongmeng system will be equipped in 2020, and it will be promoted simultaneously at home and abroad.

Wang Chenglu also revealed that in August 2020, Huawei’s Hongmeng system will usher in full open source and open.

On May 16, 2019, the U.S. government placed Huawei on the Entity List on the grounds of national security, prohibiting U.S. companies from doing business with Huawei. Since then, the U.S. Department of Commerce has issued three temporary 90-day licenses for Huawei. The most recent one was on November 19.

Due to the suspension of authorization of Google’s GMS service and Microsoft’s Windows software, Huawei’s terminal products such as mobile phones, tablets and computers have to activate the “spare tire plan” and begin to release the self-developed Hongmeng OS operating system and use Linux to replace windows.

However, some U.S. companies have also been applying for licenses to do business with Huawei. According to the statement of the U.S. Department of Commerce on November 20, 300 applications for licenses have been received, and nearly half of them have been processed, of which about 50% have been approved. Some U.S. companies, including Microsoft, have been issued export licenses certificate.

This means that Huawei has temporarily solved the problem of software usage on the computer system, but the Google GMS service on mobile phones and tablets is still banned.

The Huawei Mate30 series released on September 19 has also become Huawei’s first flagship model that cannot use Google’s GMS service. On September 19, Huawei founder and CEO Ren Zhengfei accepted an exclusive interview with the American “Fortune” magazine. When it comes to this issue, Ren Zhengfei said that the inability to use Google products will at most reduce the terminal sales revenue of more than 10 billion US dollars in Europe, which will have little impact on Huawei.

Ren Zhengfei revealed that Huawei will be able to build the Hongmeng system into an operating system comparable to Apple’s system in 2-3 years if it continues to fail to regain Google product support.

At the IFA2019 exhibition, Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei’s consumer business, was asked in an interview with the media when Huawei’s mobile phones will use the Hongmeng system. Yu Chengdong responded that the work of adapting the Hongmeng system to mobile phones is ready, but Huawei will not use it first. . Because Huawei also has to take into account the relevant decisions and cooperation of Google.

If Huawei mobile phones are not allowed to use Google services in the future, Yu Chengdong said that Huawei will consider using the self-developed Hongmeng system, and the Huawei P40 series released in March next year may become the first mobile phone product equipped with the Hongmeng system.

At the Huawei Developer Conference on August 9 this year, Huawei’s consumer business officially launched this new microkernel-based, all-scenario, multi-terminal-adaptive distributed operating system – Hongmeng OS.

At present, Hongmeng OS has been launched to adapt to Huawei’s smart screen products. Yu Chengdong introduced at the developer conference that in the next three years, in addition to improving related technologies, Hongmeng OS will gradually be applied to smart terminals such as smart watches, smart screens, in-vehicle devices, and smart speakers, and strive to build a cross-terminal integration and sharing ecosystem. Reshape a safe and reliable operating environment, and create a new experience of smart life in all scenarios for consumers. (Finish)
